ONA would like to to alert you to important information the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has posted on its website regarding accommodation solutions for employees returning to work. This document was developed because of ONA’s request that WSIB share its return-to-work accommodation successes with stakeholders.
Out of our request was born a WSIB Accommodations Steering Committee, which ONA specialists have been sitting on, along with representatives from the firefighters and construction trades.
The committee agreed that an approach to job accommodation would be a useful tool for workplace parties to reference when attempting to return a worker to work following an injury or illness. We also asked that once it was developed, it be posted on the WSIB website for use by all workplace parties. This committee also found value in developing case studies with accommodation solution ideas with the intent of sharing these on the WSIB website once they are finalized.
We are pleased to announce that the WSIB Job accommodation approach document has been finalized.
